Apple Valley High School, commonly referred to as AVHS, is a public four-year high school in Apple Valley, Minnesota. It is a part of Minnesota Independent School District 196 (aka Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan ISD 196). It is also affiliated with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The school was completed in 1976, and at that time was the second high school added to the district. As of 2006, it is one of six high schools serving District 196.
Accomplishments & Recognitions Main entry to AVHS- Blue Ribbon School of Excellence from the U.S. Department of Education
- Award for Excellence in Content Rich Arts from the National Endowment of the Arts
- 140 Best High Schools in the U.S. from Redbook magazine
- Grammy Signature School from National Academy of Recording Arts and Science
- Temporary home for Francisco Serrano, a homeless man who made headlines in 2005 after he was found living in AVHS.
Apple Valley High School plays in the Lake Conference, which is part of the Minnesota State High School League. They have won 49 state championship titles since their opening in 1976, which puts the school third overall in the state of Minnesota for total number of state championships won.
