According to their website, Approbation Comics is an indy comic book company whose main goal is to bring graphic illustrated novels (aka comic books)to a wider, more mainstream audience. Creator/writer/artist Bart A. Thompson (also credited as Bart Thompson, B. Alex Thompson, and/or Alex Thompson) found the name, from the Latin root meaning "approval", by searching a thesaurus.
Though not as large as some of the more popular comic book publishers such as Marvel Comics or Image Comics, Approbation seems to have a decent sized following and their popularity continues to increase with each year. As of 2005, their listed titles include Myriad (a five story anthology), Vampires Unlimited, ChiSai, Chaos Campus, and Metamutoids. During 2006 they hope to add the titles of MiKayla, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Blood, Shells, & Roses to their roster.
