This exercise has been specifically outlined in our Constitution in Article XVII Section 1 and 2. Basically the 1987 Constitution provides three methods of doing such: 1.) By way of a Constitutional Assembly (Con-Ass)(Congress, upon a vote of three-fourths of all its Members) 2.) By a Constitutional convention (Con-Con) 3.) People’s Initiative

For all its fuss and the negativity towards Charter Change through Constitutional Assembly circling around the world of blogging, you may wonder why I am for it. So before you lash on me, here are my reasons. Firstly, there are no other means of implementing amendments and revision in our constitution except through Charter Change. I am for Charter Change because I believe that certain changes need to take place especially if it is for our well being and the change does in fact cater the needs of our time. In fact if we look at the US Constitution, it had 27 amendments since it was promulgated in 1787 of which the last amendment was done on May 1992. Some useful amendments to our constitution should be limiting the number of law makers since they are too many and quite expensive to maintain. Another one is adding a provision that would stop the proliferation of political dynasties. Well, enough of my suggestion as I will be making post devoted on that topic.

Among the three methods of implementing Charter Change, Constitutional Assembly is the most efficient method. This is the reason why I am also for Con-Ass. Constitutional Convention not only costs a lot of money but so much time will be wasted. A people’s initiative is yet to be implemented and there has never been a law passed on how this should be exercised. Besides, it would also become very impractical should it be implemented. This leaves us with the Constitutional Assembly. Though it may sound ironic, we do still have intelligent lawmakers who can still produce very sensible amendments.

Well, those are my thoughts on the matter and the reasons why I am in favor of Con-Ass and Cha-Cha. The public, sadly, has been deceitfully misinformed about the real functions of Constitutional Assemble and Charter Change. This is because such as been paralleled to the extension of Mrs. Arroyo’s term of office. The public should no that that such exercises are not only meant for term extensions of any president. Charter Change is definitely good as long as the change will better the lives of the people and Constitutional Assembly is the most practical way of doing it.

Yet this does not mean I am for Cha-Cha now. What would be practical is to have Charter Change after the scheduled May 2010 elections to avoid political unrest because of the misunderstanding. So badly are they scared of the end that they are watching the same movies of disaster, over and over, with different actors, different titles, and different producers - all aimed to scare you and empty your pockets.

Do you think the world is coming to an end? The World Isn’t Coming To An End, it’s just Hollywood, trying to make a buck.

Let’s get real. Let’s discuss some of the pin-point targets:

1. The World Will End With Planetary Alignment and the repositioning of the Earth along the Galactic Equator - …. R-I-G-H-T! The phenomena of placement of the stars and galaxies in space is not new. These things have occurred before, and it wasn’t the end of the world. Actually, the date predicted, Winter Solstice, 2012 is not as significant as other astronomical phenomena happening before this. This is just fear-mongering of the formerly unemployed ‘ of the world writers’ with nothing better to do than create movies to scare the bejesus out of little kids.

2. The Mayan Prophesy says the world is coming to an end. There is no known prophesy that the world is coming to an End and whoever said that should know that it can’t be. The records of the Maya civilization were effectively destroyed, like all other Meso-American histories by the Conquering Spanish, and what was kept - was kept in secret archives to keep the truth away from the public because it would destroy the Catholic Church. The evidence indicated that the majority of the Meso-American population was, in fact, the lost tribes of Israel. This was written by Franciscan Monks at the time of the invasion, and British and other archeologists later. The actual Mayan Prophesy was simple - ‘Live naturally, in natural time, or your biosphere (Earth - our mother ship) would not survive. We’ll we did it. No lying about that. For the past umpteen years, we have been just like conquerors, raping, murdering, and killing mother earth. OOPS! I didn’t do it - you didn’t do it - the politicians allowed it - all for greed. Oil, Gold, Silver - rape the earth suffers the consequences. The end date of the Mayan Calendar had nothing to do with the end of the planet, it had to do with the end of an era.

2a. Note that when the Earth was first inhabited there was something of a 3 degree axis tilt and the planet was green, and water blue, and life was abundant. What by the name of God have we done to our mother?

2b. We’re at 23 degree wobble now. Yes, something is happening, changes are occurring, but it’s not the end. It scares people to think that changes are coming - people fear change. CHANGE IS GOOD!

2c. Will people will die? Of course, people are already dying. Yes, we’ve burned fossil fuels, destroyed our air, cut down our forests, created deserts where there were none before and previously the planet cleansed itself with great floods. People are dying, we are more aware since Hurricane Katrina, that things are not right due to global warming, and Tsunamis, great floods, and thousands more deaths in countries where floods were a rarity.

2d. Many species are dying. Faster than ever before species are disappearing. One indication that might be considered, or two, are the frog population which began disappearing a few years back, and the bees. We are impacting nature and we don’t step lightly - our footprint is huge and visible, and we are destroying all of life without mistreatment of our mother.

2e. There are more diseases now, more horrible, more incurable - a sick society and planet produce all forms of diseases.

3. It’s human nature - It’s obvious that the nature of the human being is to conquer. The continuous development of warfare, atomic, and nuclear weaponry is solely aimed at the destruction of mankind and hurting the planet. Previously, we had been the only big bully playing with nukes, now every schoolyard bully has them and someone is likely to play war games just to demonstrate my ‘thingie’ is bigger than your ‘thingie’.

3a. Human Belief in Ancient Religions - I must mention this, because this is the greatest manipulation of human beings on Earth. Sorry, priest, ministers, rabbis, I honor you all for what you know, but your DOGMA is not helping the situation. Each one of you has chosen an individual branch as part of the Tree of Life, and none of you are on the Expressway to God. Please stop telling your people they are sinners - as men of God, many of you have been caught with your own pants down around your ankles and some honey taking some money for some SINFUL and LUSTFUL experience you needed to have. It may not have been you, but we all know of whom I speak. I am not judging you - just stop judging others and stop playing the blame game which results in guilt. As you know - guilt has absolutely no survival value, it is responsible for many illnesses that do not resolve and result in death. Stop guilting others, or …

3b. Humans Mistreat Each Other and Mother Earth - imagine all the drilling, the cutting of trees, the burning of fields, everything normal and beautiful of earth destroyed by greed to steal the resources and be billionaires, all at the cost of our mother. Imagine our planet as a great big fluffy dog, filled with life. And the dog feels the burring of something drilling into it - just like a flea. And another, burning like burning the trees - the dog begins to scratch and shake fiercely and the fleas fall off. You got a parachute for when this happens to us?

4. The Mayan Calendar - Interestingly enough ends on the Winter Solstice, 2012. Why, not because it’s the end of the world - it’s the end of the 5th Cycle of Life on the Planet. The 6th Cycle that begins immediately thereafter is an Age of Enlightenment. It’s sounds like an exciting time to be alive - so get prepared!

WELCOME - this is reality.

Many of us will fall off, many of us will die. Those who are not prepared, and those who think they are better or more greater, more important or more powerful than Mother Earth that we live on, will suffer.

I’D RATHER STAY HOME — HERE ON EARTH

In 1987, the Harmonic Convergence, as written about by Dr. Jose Arguelles, and my participation in it - by travels through endless ruins, culminating at the El Tule Tree in Oaxaca in Mexico, spoke the prophesy that we had 25 years left of life as we knew it.           Aranmula is a beautiful village located further inland from Chengannur, (9 km west) on the Ernakulam Quilon railroad. It is on the left bank of the Pampa river. ; it is from here that the sacred jewels of Ayyappan are taken in procession to Sabarimalai each year. Aranmula is also known for the watersports involving a spectacular procession of snake boats. It is also linked with legends from the Mahabharata.

          Among the Krishna temples in Kerala, the most important ones are at Guruvayur, Trichambaram, Tiruvarppu, Ambalappuzha and Aranmula.

          Aranmula is one of the five ancient shrines in the Chengannur area of Kerala, connected with the Mahabharatam. (Chengannur - Yuddhishtra, Tiruppuliyur - Bheema, Aranmula - Arjuna, Tiruvamundur - Nakula and Tirukkadittaanam - Sahadeva). It has been glorified by the tamil hymns of Nammalwar of the 1st millennium CE.

          The temple has four towers over its entrances on its outer wall. The eastern tower is accessed through a flight of 18 steps. Descending 57 steps through the northern tower, one can reach the Pampa river.

          Legend has it that the Pandava princes, after crowning Parikshit left on a pilgrimage of India, and in Kerala, each of these brothers installed Vishnu on the banks of the Pampa & nearby places and offered worship. (Chengannur - Yuddhishtra, Tiruppuliyur - Bheema, Aranmula - Arjuna, Tiruvamundur - Nakula and Tirukkadittaanam - Sahadeva). It is said that Arjuna built this temple at Nilackal near Sabarimalai. and the image was brought here in a raft made of six pieces of bamboo to this site, & hence the name Aranmula (six pieces of bamboo).

          Legend has it that Arjuna built this temple, to expiate for the sin of having killed Karna on the battlefield, against the dharma of killing an unarmed enemy. It is also believed that Vishnu (here) revealed the knowledge of creation to Bhrama , from whom the Madhukaitapa demons stole the Vedas.

          There is yet another legend associated with Parthasarathy here. On the ninth dayof the battle of Kurukshetra, the Kauravas reigned supreme under the leadership of Bheeshma, when krishna motivated Arjuna to take initative & vanquish his foe. Upon his hesitating to do so, Krishna jumped down in rage, and took up his discus; seeing this sight Bheeshma surrendered to him and Arjuna beseeched him not to kill Bheeshma, as it would bave been against Krishna's vow to take up arms in his battle. It is believed that it is this image of Krishna that is enshrined here, with a discus.

          The Water Carnival: This temple is located on the banks of the river Pampa. This temple is associated with water carnivals - boat race during the Onam season. A tradition of sending an offering of rice and other material required for a feast from a nearby village, on a waterboat relates to the origin of this festival & this tradition is continued even today (this is related to a legend in which a devotee fed a hungry pilgrim, who directed him to send food to Aranmula and disappeared, revealing that he was none other than Vishnu).

          Snake boats accompany the sacred boat. The boat race: Snake boats from 39 Karas from Chennithala in the west to Ranni in the east participate in the watersport Vellamkali. These boats assemble since dawn and sail in pairs for about 2 hrs. A snake boat is about 103 feet in length. Each boat has about 4 helmsmen 100 rowers and 25 singers. After the watersport there is an elaborate feast in the Aranmula temple.

          Another festival celebrated here is the Khandavanadahanam celebrated in the malayalam month of Dhanus. For this festival, a replica of a forest is created in front of the temple with Dried plants, leaves & twigs. This bonfire is lit, symbolic of the Khandavana forest fire of the Mahabharata.

          The malayala month of Meenam witnesses a festival where Aranmula Parthasarathy is taken in a grand procession on the garuda mount to the Pampa river bank, where an image of the Bhagawati from the nearby Punnamthode temple is brought in procession for the arattu festival.

              History

              Arch Mineral Corporation was founded in 1969 as a partnership between Ashland Oil (now Ashland, Inc.) and the Hunt family of Dallas, Texas. Ashland Coal, Inc. was formed in 1975 as a subsidiary of Ashland Oil. The privately held Arch Mineral Corporation in Jul 1997 then merged with Ashland Coal, Inc., creating the present-day company.

              Environmental impact

              The company practises mountaintop removal mining, which is controversial because of the erosion and water contamination caused. Arch Coal's West Virginia mining operations in the Appalachian Mountains were the subject of a critical documentary in 2002 on Now with Bill Moyers on PBS.

                Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) is a United States coal mining and processing company. The company mines, processes, and markets bituminous and sub-bituminous coal with low sulfur content in the United States (US). Arch Coal is the second largest supplier of coal in the U.S. - second only to Peabody Energy. Arch Coal claims to supply 12 percent of the domestic market.

                Arch Coal operates 21 active mines & controls approximately 3.1 billion tons of proven and probable coal reserves, located in the Central Appalachia, the Powder River Basin, and the Western Bituminous regions. The company operates mines in Colorado, Kentucky, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming, & is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. According to Forbes Magazine the company sells substantially all of its coal to producers of electric power, steel producers & industrial facilities.

                History

                Arch Mineral Corporation was founded in 1969 as a partnership between Ashland Oil (now Ashland, Inc.) and the Hunt family of Dallas, Texas. Ashland Coal, Inc. was formed in 1975 as a subsidiary of Ashland Oil. The privately held Arch Mineral Corporation in Jul 1997 then merged with Ashland Coal, Inc., creating the present-day company.

                Environmental impact

                The company practises mountaintop removal mining, which is controversial because of the erosion and water contamination caused. Arch Coal's West Virginia mining operations in the Appalachian Mountains were the subject of a critical documentary in 2002 on Now with Bill Moyers on PBS.

                  Anuradha Paudwal is a playback singer in Bollywood. Her career started with the film Abhimaan starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Meanwhile her husband Arun Paudwal in the pair of Anil-Arun gave many hit numbers in Marathi films for which Anuradha sang some resplendent numbers in Marathi like Disatein Mazlaa (Ashtavinayak), Raja Lalkaari, Kaalya Maatita Maatitaa, etc.

                  Anuradha Paudwal became a singer to reckon with when she rendered some exceptional numbers for the film Hero, music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Her song for Mere Mann Bajaa Mirang Utsav won her the first Filmfare award in 1985.

                  Since her career was not making any headway, she joined hands with Gulshan Kumar who was about to bring a revolution in the music industry. Her success streak began from the films Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka, Tezaab, Ashiqui, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, etc. Her new found status also got her involved in some controversies like dubbing songs of her contemporaries' (the infamous dubbing of Alka Yagnik's songs of the films Dil and more recently Itihaas), also her much rumoured affair with Gulshan Kumar.

                  Despite the controversies, Anuradha has won three Filmfare awards in a row for Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin & Beta. At her peak Anuradha Paudwal announced that she would exclusively sing for T-series only. This stand benefited Alka Yagnik who just zoomed to the top with her newfound association with Nadeem-Shravan & Anu Malik, who had stopped composing for Gulshan Kumar due to some differences. She stopped singing songs for films and concentrated more on devotional and cover-version albums. For almost five years, Anuradha Paudwal did not sing for many films and for any other music company.

                  It is only recently that she started rendering songs for companies outside T-series. After the brutal murder of Gulshan Kumar, her hold over T-series diminished. Anuradha Paudwal has started singing outside T-series & met with lukewarm response. So far she has given a few hits like 'Kismat Se Tum'(Pukar), 'Akeli Hai Yeh Mis Khiladi' (Mr & Mrs Khiladi), 'Zara Aankhon Se Kajal' (Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehtein Hai), 'Chaha Hai Tujhko' (Mann) and 'Jogiya' (Deewane).

                      Aranyer Din Ratri (Days and Nights in the Forest) is about four city-bred friends who go for a vacation in the jungles. The story explores the faultlines between city-bred individuals and locals or villagers in post-Independence India. The film version by Ray has Soumitra Chatterjee, Shubhendu Chatterjee, Samit Bhanja and Robi Ghosh playing the four friends. The two ladies they meet are played by Sharmila Tagore & Kaberi Bose. The local girl who Samit Bhanja's character(Hari) has an affair with is played by Simi Garewal. A sequel was made by Goutam Ghosh called 'Abar Aranye'.
